Huw Thomas Conductor

Huw’s career as a conductor started in 2001. Since then his work has grown into a vast experience of styles and ensembles. His formative years started in 1992 as he was awarded a place in the National Youth Orchestra of Wales. Study at Birmingham Conservatoire followed and upon completing a BMus (Hons) Huw took a job playing Trumpet with a professional orchestra in Portugal, along with regular guest work in Spain.

In 2004 he won the Denis and Maud Wright conducting award. This led to lessons with Elgar Howarth. In 2005 Huw also received the J R Memorial Cup for his conducting.

Huw has worked extensively with orchestras and made his conducting debut with the Sinfonia Tamesa in London in 2006. Subsequently, he also performed with the Sunderland Symphony Orchestra.
